Falcons Clipped by Westfield State, 60-50
Enright records double-double in Falcons setback
Fitchburg State jumped out to an early nine point lead, leading 19-10 after a three pointer by Jackie Boffoli with 11:57 left in the half.
Westfield outscored the Falcons, 20-6 for the remainder of the opening stanza, grabbing a 30-25 half time lead after back to back three pointers from Alyssa Darling and Brianna Lowry to close the half.
Westfield opened the second half with a quick 5-0 run to push the lead to 10, 35-25, but the Falcons answered, cutting the Owls lead back to three points, 39-36 after a Rebecca Fluet three-pointer with 13:53 left in regulation.
The Owls gradually pulled away from that point forward, building the lead to as many as 18 points, 60-42 after another Lowry three pointer with 2:05 to play.
Kristen Enright led the Falcons with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Megan Wodzinski added 11 points and five rebounds.
Forbasaw Nkamebo had 16 points with 19 rebounds, a career-best for the hosts in the win. Kirsy Segarra was the only other player in double figures for the Owls with 15 points.
With the loss the Green & Gold fall to 11-6 and 3-3 in the MASCAC, while Westfield improves to 14-4 on the season, 6-0 in the MASCAC.
Fitchburg State travels to Salem State this Saturday for a 1:00 pm tipoff while Westfield faces Framingham this Saturday at 1:00 pm at home.
