Rose Collects MASCAC And WACBA Women’s Basketball Rookie Of The Week Honors

Rockland, Mass. native registers ninth weekly accolade on the year

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Freshman guard Kyra Rose was tabbed both Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) and Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) women's basketball rookie of the week as announced by the conference offices earlier this week.

The first-year guard collects her ninth weekly honor of the 2016-17 campaign after averaging 16 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, two steals and 2.3 blocks per contest in three games for the Falcons. Kyra netted 14 points, seven boards, four assists, two steals and one block in a 73-69 setback to Becker College on Monday before adding a game-best 20 points, seven caroms, three assists, three steals and three blocks in a 71-67 loss to Salem State on Wednesday.

Rose concluded the week with a team-best 14 points, eight rebounds, one assist, one steal and three blocks in a 77-52 setback to Framingham State on Saturday afternoon.

The Fitchburg State women's basketball team recently concluded the 2016-17 campaign with an overall record of 9-16 and a 1-11 mark in the MASCAC.
