Curry Rolls Past Fitchburg State, 11-2

Roberts nets second goal of the season in Falcons non-conference setback

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 14, 2013) – The Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team suffered its second loss of the season, falling to the Colonels of Curry College, 11-2 at the 2013 Spring Fling this afternoon.

Senior Jessica Bartlett (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) and junior Chelsea Roberts (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) led the Falcons  offensively, totaling one goal apiece. Bartlett hit home for her first goal of the season late in the first half, while Roberts added her second score of the season to open the second half scoring.

Freshman Elizabeth Darrigo (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) earned her second start in as many games, posting five saves in 49 minutes of work. Junior Dylana Drolette (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) also added three stops between the pipes, while freshman Danielle Cormier (Fitchburg, Mass./Saint Bernards) went untested in her college debut.

For the game, Curry outshot Fitchburg State 26-12 while holding a 29-19 margin in groundballs. Junior Markie Apple (Pittsfield, Mass./Taconic) led the Falcons in groundballs, totaling four for the contest.

Fitchburg State (0-2, 0-0 MASCAC) will be back in action on Tuesdays as it hosts Mount Ida College at 7 p.m.
