Fitchburg State Upends Salem State, 12-10

Bartlett collects 100th career marker in Falcons MASCAC victory

FITCHBURG, Mass. (April 19, 2013) – Senior Jessica Bartlett (Marlborough, Mass.) registered five tallies as the Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team collected a 12-10 MASCAC victory over the Vikings of Salem State this evening at Elliot Field.

With her five goals on the evening, Bartlett eclipses the 100-career goal plateau, surpassing the mark with 103 goals on the season.

Sophomore Lindsey White (Hanover, Mass.) was also solid with a team-best six scores on the night, while junior Chelsea Roberts (Newburyport, Mass.) added a marker. Bridgett Dullea led the Vikings charge with six goals and a game-high 15 shots.

The Falcons won both halves in the contest, outscoring the Vikings 6-5 each period. Fitchburg State opened the game with a fury, pointing a 3-0 lead behind two scores from White and one goal from Bartlett, but Salem State battled back, knotting the score at 4-4 with  three goals from Dullea.

It was a tight knit affair for most of the second half until Fitchburg State broke open the contest behind a hat-trick from Bartlett. The senior attack rifled off three scores in the matter of 4:13, including her 100th career marker at the 15:25 mark.

Salem State did not go quietly scoring a pair of goals over the final 11 minutes but freshman Elizabeth Darrigo (Billerica, Mass.) collected 18 saves on the evening to give Fitchburg State its third conference victory. Vikings net-minder Alex Voroutsos stopped 16 shots despite the loss for Salem State 

Fitchburg State (5-8, 3-2 MASCAC) will be back in action on Sunday as it visits Wheaton College at 1 p.m.
