Falcon Duo Earn Pair of MASCAC Weekly Accolades

White named Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week; Laferriere earns Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

FITCHBURG, Mass. (April 15, 2014) – Junior Lindsey White (Hanover, Mass.) and freshman Ali Laferriere (Tyngsboro, Mass.) collected a pair MASCAC Women’s Lacrosse weekly honors this week as announced by the conference office on Sunday evening.

White collects her first weekly honor of the season after being selected MASCAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week. The third-year Falcon totaled 13 points on 11 goals and two assists as well as two ground balls in a 2-1 week for Fitchburg State. Lindsey collected a game-best seven points with five markers and a pair of assists to go along with one grounder in the Green and Gold’s 13-8 win over New England College on Monday evening before tallying six scores and one ground ball in the Falcons 17-2 triumph against MASCAC rival Framingham State on Saturday afternoon.

Laferriere also earns her first weekly accolade of the 2014 campaign after being named MASCAC Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week. Ali posted 13 points on ten scores and three helpers, while adding 23 draw controls on the week. The freshman attacker netted three points on one marker and a pair of dishes as well as six draw controls in a 13-8 victory against New England College on Monday night before registering six points on five goals and one assist with 13 draw controls in a 17-2 win over the Rams of Framingham State on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State women’s lacrosse team returns to action on Tuesday as it hosts the Buccaneers of Massachusetts Maritime Academy at 7:00 p.m.
