Falcons Sink Corsairs, 13-7

FITCHBURG, Mass - Fitchburg State University (9-2) went on a 10-0 run en route to a 13-7 victory over University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (1-8) in a non-conference women's lacrosse contest Thursday evening at Elliot Field.

In the early going UMass Dartmouth took a 2-1 edge, which included two consecutive goals by Jess Miles and Erin Kish. After both teams exchanged goals within two minutes of each other, the Falcons proceeded on a 6-0 run, including three goals from Lindsey White, to take an 8-3 lead into halftime.

Going into the second half Fitchburg State continued to pour on the goals, as they started the period on a 4-0 run. The Corsairs would not go down quietly however as they ended the closing stanza with four goals, including three from Colleen Kane in the final 20 minutes, while holding the Green & Gold to just one tally in the final 25 minutes of the contest.

Fitchburg State was led by White with four goals and one assist, while Ali Laferriere contributed with three goals and one assist with four draw-controls. 

Kane finished with a hat-trick, while Kish had a pair of goals in the setback for UMass Dartmouth.

Elizabeth Darrigo had six saves in between the pipes for the Falcons in the victory, while her counterpart Erin Leblanc had 13 stops for the Corsairs.

Fitchburg State held a 31-16 advantage in shots and 17-5 edge in draw-controls, while both teams picked up 24 groundballs on the evening.

Fitchburg State will be on the road in their next contest as they travel to Salem State on Saturday, April 11 at 1:00pm. UMass Dartmouth will take on the Monks of Saint Joseph's College on Sunday, April 12 at 10:00 am.
