Women’s Lacrosse Names Four To MASCAC All-Conference Team
Comeau, Crutchfield, Darrigo and Laferriere earn second team honors
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team named four players to the 2015 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse All-Conference team as announced by the conference office on Wednesday morning.
Junior Elizabeth Darrigo, sophomore Andrea Comeau, classmate Ali Laferriere and freshman Lia Crutchfield were all named to the MASCAC All-Conference second team.
Laferriere paved the way for the Falcons this season, totaling a team-leading 57 points on 41 markers and 16 helpers to go along with a team-leading 99 draw controls, 23 groundball and four caused turnovers to collect her second All-Conference accolade.
Comeau collects her all-conference nomination this season after registering a strong sophomore campaign. Comeau ranks second on the team in scoring with 50 points on a team-best 42 goals and eight assists as well as 40 groundballs, 16 draw controls and 13 caused turnovers.
Darrrigo also earns her first all-conference selection after witnessing an outstanding junior year in goal, The junior goalkeepers currently ranks first in the MASCAC in wins (13), save percentage (.500) and goals against average (9.14) as well as ranking fourth in the conference with 135 saves.
Crtuchfield rounds out the list of All-Conference award winners, posting a solid rookie year. Lia has anchored the Falcons defense in limiting opponents to just over 8.8 goal per contest, while picking up her first collegiate score in an 18-2 win over Elms College on March, 26th.
The second-seeded Falcons will be back in action on Thursday as they host the third-seeded Bears of Bridgewater State University for semifinal round action of the 2015 MASCAC Women's Lacrosse tournament for a contest starting at 7 p.m.
