NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (October 25, 2008) - The Fitchburg State women's soccer team registered a 3-1 victory over MCLA in Massachusetts State Athletic Conference action this afternoon.

Fitchburg State junior Lauren Wundt (Southwick, Mass./Southwick-Tolland) led all scorers with a game-high four points on two goals, while freshman Carissa Kennedy (Somerset, Mass./Bishop Stang) added one score.

With her four points in the contest, Wundt became the program's all-time points scorer, surpassing the previous mark of 73 points held by Maryann Barret. Over her remarkable career, Wundt has totaled 75 points on a program best 34 goals and seven assists.

Sophomore Jessica Tietgens (Stamford, Vt./Drury) scored the lone goal for MCLA, while senior Taylor Kenyon (North Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) chipped in with an assist.

Wundt struck first for Fitchburg State in the 27th minute of the match when she poked a shot low to the corner just past the reach of Trailblazer goalkeeper Cece Von-Tiesenhausen-Hush (Arlington, Vt./Miss Hall's School). MCLA rallied back to tie the game with just under four minutes left in the first half as Kenyon carried the ball through the Falcon's midfield and dished off to Tietgens for the score

Four minutes into the second half, Wundt struck again for the eventual game winning goal. MCLA had its scoring opportunities, but junior goalkeeper Emily Swan (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) posted three second half saves to keep the Trailblazers off the board. Fitchburg State added an insurance goal down the stretch as Kennedy connected for her seventh score of the season.
