BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. (October 16, 2009) - The Fitchburg State women's soccer team collected its second conference victory, defeating Mass-Maritime Academy, 9-0 in MASCAC action this evening.

Senior Lauren Wundt registered her
first hat-trick of the season to lead
the Falcons past Mass Maritime.

Fitchburg State received all the offensive fire-power it would need early in the first half as the Falcons scored four times in a 16 minutes span to take a quick 4-0 advantage. Senior Lauren Wundt (Southwick, Mass./Southwick-Tolland) opened the Falcon scoring with the eventual game-winner just 14:16 into the game, while junior Julie Almstrom (Auburn, Mass./Auburn) added a pair of goals in the half. Junior Ali Landry (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) rounded out the first period scoring with her second marker of the season.

In the second half, Fitchburg State continued its offensive pursuit, receiving single goals from senior Meagan Belanger (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown), junior Courtney Kimball (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth) and freshman Kellsie Reimondo (Portland, Conn./Portland). Wundt was also strong in the frame, connecting for two scores to complete the hat-trick.

With her six points in the contest, Wundt is only three points shy of reaching the 100 point plateau. The Falcons all-time goals and points record holder has totaled 97 career points on 46 goals and 13 assists as she inches closer to becoming the only Falcon to reach the exclusive milestone.

Fitchburg State controlled the entire match, registering 37 of the games 38 shots. Senior goalkeeper Emily Swan (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) picked up the win for the Falcons without making a save in the first half of play, while freshman Rachel Johnson (South Chatham, Mass./South Chatham) made 18 stops in net for the Buccaneers.
