Kirouac Earns ECAC Defensive Player Of The Week Honors

Leominster, Mass. native collects first career ECAC accolade

FITCHBURG, Mass. (October 4, 2011) – Sophomore Jillian Kirouac (Leominster, Mass./Leominster) was named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Tuesday evening.

Kirouac collects her first career ECAC honor after being named the MASCAC’s Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. Kirouac led the Fitchburg State women’s soccer team to a 2-0 stretch over the week, stopping 20 of 21 shots en route to a 0.50 goals against average. The second year net minder totaled 18 saves in the Falcons in a key 1-0 victory over Westfield State, while boasting a pair of stops in a 4-1 triumph over Curry.

The Fitchburg State women’s soccer team (9-1, 3-0 MASCAC) looks to extend its nine game unbeaten streak on Friday night as it travels to Mass-Maritime at 6 p.m.
