Kirouac earns first shutout of the season in non-conference victory

WORCESTER, Mass. (September 10, 2011) – Sophomore Rachel Jamieson (Foxboro, Mass./Foxboro) and senior Carissa Kennedy (Somerset, Mass./Bishop Stang) each netted a goal to lift the Fitchburg State women's soccer team to a 2-0 shutout over host WPI in a non-conference matchup this afternoon.

Jamieson scored what proved to be the winning goal in the 22nd minute when she buried a feed by classmate Rebecca Spiro (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) for her second goal of 2011. The Falcons added a key insurance goal at 76:46 as Kennedy chipped in a shot from ten yards out off an assist by freshman Kayla Bridges (Foxboro, Mass./Foxboro).  The marker was the team-best fourth for the senior  tri-captain this fall.

Sophomore Jillian Kirouac (Leominster, Mass./Leominster) improved to 3-1-0 on the season, making three saves in the complete game shutout while WPI goalkeeper Maddie Willer (Penfield, N.Y.) also made three stops for the Engineers.
