Framingham State Tops Fitchburg State, 2-1 (OT)

Jamieson collects 30th career goal; Kirouac stops season best 17 shots for Falcons

FITCHBURG, Mass. (October 19, 2013) – Freshman forward Allisa Georgio (W. Greenwich, R.I.) notched the game-winning tally in the 98th minute of play to lift the Framingham State women's soccer team over Fitchburg State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this morning at Elliot Field.

In the first frame, Fitchburg State grabbed the lead at the 36:55 mark as senior forward Rachel Jamieson (Foxboro, Mass.) collected a through ball from junior Devin Donnelly (Charlton, Mass.) and deposited the ball inside the far post for her 30th career tally to put the Falcons up 1-0 going into intermission.

The Rams nearly took the lead in the 24th minute of action when junior Marisa Parent (Revere, Mass.) and sophomore Marissa Miele (Hudson, Mass.) had a pair excellent scoring chances but Fitchburg State keeper Jillian Kirouac (Leominster, Mass.) made a diving save on Parent's attempt before making a stellar stop on Miele rebound attempt to keep the score at 0-0.

Following the break, Framingham State knotted the score (1-1) at the 64:28 mark as senior midfielder Kayla Austin (Winchester, Mass.) lofted a free kick from 30 yards out into the upper left corner of the net for her tenth score of the season to force the extra stanza.

In the overtime period, the Rams completed the come-back at the 97:21 mark when Parent found Georgio in the middle of the box and fired a shot inside the left post for her first collegiate marker, resulting in the 2-1 victory.

Throughout the match, Framingham State out-shot the Falcons 32-12, while the corner kicks were even at four apiece. In goal, Kirouac was outstanding, finishing the day with 17 saves for Fitchburg State in the complete game effort, while sophomore Sara Sullivan (Quincy, Mass.) stopped seven shots for the Rams in 97:21 minutes of action.
