Kirouac stops four shots for the Falcons

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. (October 23, 2013) – Freshman forward Lucy Jensen (Boxborough, Mass.) collected two markers to lift UMass Dartmouth over Fitchburg State, 3-0 in non-conference women's soccer action at Cressy Field this evening.

In the opening frame, UMass Dartmouth took the lead at the 21:37 mark as freshman forward Lucy Jensen (Boxborough, Mass.) received a feed from senior Tori Pierce (Tiverton, R.I.) and blasted a shot into the back of the net for her second score of the season to put the hosts up 1-0.

Fitchburg State nearly knotted the score in the 24th minute of play when senior forward Rachel Jamieson (Foxboro, Mass.) fired a shot that just caught the cross bar to keep the score at 1-0 going into the break.

Following intermission, the hosts quickly doubled their lead just 1:48 into the second period as Jensen launched a shot from 18 yards out into the upper right corner of the net for her second tally of the contest for the 2-0 advantage.

The hosts upped their margin in the 81st minute of action when freshman midfielder Erica Farias (Tiverton, R.I.) struck for her second score of the season as she slipped the ball inside the near post for the 3-0 lead.

The Falcons had a pair of scoring opportunities with just under five minutes remaining in the match as Jamieson and sophomore back Jacqueline Walker (Derry, N.H.) each fired shots on frame that Corsair keep Michelle Miller (Westford, Mass.) turned aside to preserve the 3-0 shutout victory.

Throughout the match UMass Dartmouth held a 23-9 advantage in shots, while also holding a narrow 8-6 margin in corners. Between the pipes, senior Jillian Kirouac (Leominster, Mass.) finished with four stops in 75 minutes of action for Fitchburg State, while Miller made three saves in the complete game effort for the Corsairs
