Framingham State Tops Fitchburg State, 4-0

Ford registers four save for Falcons in setback

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's soccer team received two goals apiece from seniors Isabela DeSouza and Marisa Parent  as the Rams defeated Fitchburg State University 4-0 this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Maple Street Field.  

Framingham State improves to 9-5 on the year and 4-1 in the conference, while the Falcons fall to 3-11-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the MASCAC.

Parent tallied a pair of goals in the first half to put the Rams up 2-0.  She stuck first in the 4th minute as she and DeSouza executed a perfect give and go.  Parent fed DeSouza a pass on the wing then broke towards the goal. DeSouza hit Parent with a well-placed pass and Parent lifted a shot over the goalkeeper.  Then in the 30th minute Parent converted a breakaway pulling the Falcon keeper off the line and placing a shot in the corner for her 13th of the season.

The Rams added two more in the second half both by DeSouza to reach the final margin.  First she scored off a feed from Parent just over 12 minutes into the frame.  On her second marker of the half, she knocked home a corner kick off the foot of sophomore Marissa Miele.

The Rams outshot the Falcons 17-5 in the game and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Sarah Sullivan recorded the shutout victory making two stops for Framingham, while senior Kelsey Ford made four saves in the setback for the Falcons.

Fitchburg State (3-11-1, 0-4-1 MASCAC) will be back in action again on Wednesday as it hosts the Corsairs UMass Dartmouth 7 p.m. Framingham State (9-5-0, 4-1-0 MASCAC) will visit Mass. Maritime Academy next Saturday at 12 p.m.
