UMass Dartmouth Clips Fitchburg State, 3-0

Ford stops eight shots for the Falcons

FITCHBURG, Mass.– Sophomore forward Lucy Jensen collected two markers to lift UMass Dartmouth over Fitchburg State, 3-0 in non-conference women's soccer action at Elliot Field this evening.

In the opening frame, UMass Dartmouth took the lead at the 37:39 mark as Jensen received a feed from sophomore Talia D'Ambruoso and blasted a shot into the back of the net for her third score of the season for the 1-0 advantage.

Fitchburg State nearly knotted the score three minutes later when freshman forward Danyel Stone fired a shot that just caught the cross bar to keep the score at 1-0 before the Corsairs doubled their margin in the 45th minute of play on Jensen's second tally of the contest for the 2-0 advantage going into the break.

Following intermission, the visitors upped their lead at the 66:18 mark as senior Maura Gonsalves gathered a loose ball in front of the net and tucked the ball inside the far post, resulting in the 3-0 final.

Throughout the match UMass Dartmouth held a 17-12 advantage in shots, while also holding a narrow 5-3 margin in corners. Between the pipes, senior Kelsey Ford finished with eight stops in the complete game effort for Fitchburg State, while newcomer Madison Boucher made four saves in 90 minutes of work for the Corsairs.
