FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Eastern Connecticut State University in non-conference action this evening at Elliot Field.

Eastern Connecticut State opened the scoring just 2:29 into the first half as freshman Emily Becher  received a pass from junior Kaitlin Thibodeau  and blasted a shot into the upper left corner of the net for her third goal on the season for the 1-0 lead.

The Falcons best scoring opportunity of the frame came at the 42:59 mark when sophomore Victoria Floeck  fired a shot from 20 yards out that Warriors keeper Katie Dadio  was able to deflect off target to preserve the 1-0 margin going into intermission.

In the second half, the Green and Gold threatened seven minutes into the stanza as senior Kelsey Murphy  blasted a shot that went just wide of the post before the Warrior doubled their lead (2-0) in the 53rd minute of action when freshman Rachel Berkowsky  took a feed from classmate Michelle D'Agata  and found the back of the net for her first collegiate tally.

The visitors secured their fourth victory of the season at the 79:58 mark as newcomer Rachel DeRotto split a pair of defenders and deposited the ball inside the upper left post for her first collegiate score, resulting in the 3-0 final.

Throughout the contest, Eastern Connecticut State held a slim 13-11 advantage in shots, while also holding a 10-3 margin in corner kicks. Between the pipes, senior Kelsey Ford  registered four saves for Fitchburg State in the complete game effort, while Dadio finished with four stops for the Warriors en-route to her first collegiate victory.
