Falcons Drop 7-0 Decision To Cougars

Politi makes 12 saves for Green and Gold

Worcester, Mass. – The Fitchburg State Women's Soccer team dropped a 7-0 decision to the Cougars of Clark University this evening in non-conference action from Granger Field.

The Basics

Score: Fitchburg State 0, Clark 7

Records: Fitchburg State (0-7-1, 0-1-1 MASCAC) | Clark (4-3, 0-1 NEWMAC)

How It Happened

Clark grabbed the lead at the 4:53 mark of the first half as junior Emma Tziachris (Cumberland, R.I.) fired a shot into the upper right corner for her second goal of the season for the 1-0 edge. Fitchburg State nearly tied the contest minutes later when graduate student Shannon McCarthy (Chicopee, Mass.) put a shot on frame, but Clark keeper Annabella White (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) turned the shot aside.

The Cougars doubled their advantage (2-0) in the 12th minute of action with freshman Isabella Ramirez (New York City, N.Y.) settled a crossing feed from senior Mia Advocate (Merrick, N.Y.) and deposited the ball inside the far post for her third marker of the 2021 campaign.

The hosts upped its margin roughly six minutes later when Advocate connected on her second goal of the year to make the score 3-0 going into the break.

Following the break, Clark secured the victory as sophomore Anika Floeck (East Bridgewater, Mass.) connected on back-to-back markers one and half minutes apart, resulting in the 7-0 final.
