Women's Soccer Upend Rams In Regular Season Finale

Porter and Kennedy net two goal each for Green and Gold

Framingham, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's soccer team registered a 4-1 triumph over the Rams of Framingham State this morning in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Maple Street Field.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State opened the scoring just three minutes into the first half when senior Ashley Porter (Upton, MA) settled a feed from sophomore Charlotte Meixsell (Boxford, MA) and deposited a shot into the left side of the net for her first tally on the season for the 1-0 advantage.

The Falcons doubled the lead to 2-0 in the 15th minute of action as Porter collected a loose ball off a corner kick and buried a shot into the back of the net for her second score of the contest.

Following the intermission, the Green and Gold pushed the lead to 3-0 at the 45:36 mark with freshman Noelle Kennedy (Walpole, MA) collecting her fourth marker of the 2023 campaign. Fitchburg State would extend the lead to 4-0 nine minutes later when Kennedy received a feed from sophomore Adrianna Westcott (Sayreville, NJ), who then fired a shot into the lower left corner for her second score on the afternoon.

Framingham State broke up the shutout in the 76th minute with graduate student Julia Rosano (Framingham, MA) notching her second goal on the year, but the Falcons would hold for the 4-1 victory.
