Dawkins stops seven shots for Green and Gold

Fitchburg Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's soccer team suffered a tough 3-0 setback to the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut State University this evening in non-conference action from Elliot Field.

How It Happened

Eastern Connecticut State grabbed the lead in the 22nd minute of action when freshman Brooke Bolles (Preston, CT) settled a feed from senior Madison Palmer (Storrs, CT) and deposited a shot inside the near post for her first marker on the year for the 1-0 edge.

Fitchburg State nearly knotted the score minutes later as sophomore Noelle Kennedy (Walpole, MA) fired a shot on frame, but Warriors keeper Kaeden Dublin (Maple Grove, MN) turned the shot aside. The visitors doubled its advantage at the 29:02 mark with Bolles putting a shot into the upper right corner for her second tally of the contest to make the score 2-0.

Eastern Connecticut State pushed the lead to 3-0 in 38th minute when senior Katelyn Herbert (Bethpage, NY) received a feed from classmate Hailey Cocoa (Stratford, CT) and buried a shot into the back of the net for her first score of the 2024 campaign for the 3-0 margin going into the half.

Following the break, the Falcons best scoring opportunity occurred at the 53:39 mark as junior Charlotte Meixsell (Boxford, MA) put a shot on target that went just over the crossbar, resulting in the 3-0 final.
