Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's soccer team registered a 1-1 draw with the Bears of Bridgewater State this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from Elliot Field.

The Basics

Score: Fitchburg State 1, Bridgewater State 1

Records: Fitchburg State (1-6-2, 1-0-1 MASCAC) | Bridgewater State (3-3-2, 1-0-1 MASCAC)

How It Happened

Fitchburg State nearly grabbed the lead midway through the first frame as junior Charlotte Meixsell (Boxford, MA) fired a shot that rang off the crossbar, while sophomore Noelle Kennedy (Walpole, MA) settled the rebound and put a shot on target, but Bridgewater State keeper Logan Levesque (Bristol, RI) denied the scoring chance to preserve the 0-0 stalemate.

Bridgewater State's best scoring opportunity occurred in the 38th minute of action with senior Sydney Dewhurst (East Bridgewater, MA) put a pair of shots on frame, but Falcons goalkeeper Madison Dawkins (Haverhill, MA) turned aside both shots to keep the contest scoreless going into the break.

Following the intermission, the Bears took the lead 30 seconds into the stanza with junior Jenna Sweeney (Wilmington, MA) blasting a shot into the upper right corner for her first tally on the season for the 1-0 edge.

The Falcons knotted the score at 1-1 roughly one minute later when junior Adrianna Westcott (Sayreville, NJ) settled a feed from senior Kendra Peretzman (Randolph, MA) and deposited a  shot inside the near post for her first score of the 2024 campaign.
