Falcons Set Records at the 2015 NEICAAA Championship

The women's 4x800m relay team registers ECAC qualifying time; Men's 4x800m relay set new school record to qualify for ECAC's

Boston, Mass. – Qualifying members of the Fitchburg State men's and women's indoor track team competed at the 2015 NEICAAA Championship hosted by Boston University on Friday and Saturday, which showcased some of  the best NCAA DI, DII and DIII teams in New England.

The women's 4x800m relay team of senior captain Jenae Harrison, classmate Braila Roy and newcomers Jenna Phelps and Sadie Zbikowski, ran an outstanding time of 9:44.15 to qualify for the ECAC Championships next week at the Armory in New York City as Harrison, Roy, Phelps and Zbikowski posted the fastest 4x800m relay time in over a decade for the Green and Gold.

On the men's side, the 4x800m relay team of senior captain Jim Quinlan, sophomore Matthew Cuomo, junior Richard Ethier, IV, and sophomore Chauncey Beatty raced their way into the Falcons record book, setting a new school mark of 7:51.56 eclipse the previous time by 1.3 seconds, which had stood since 1981 to qualifying for the ECAC Championships next week at the Armory.

Freshman Ben Sattiewhite jumped 1.94 meters in the high jump to place twelfth overall, while Quinlan doubled up with a season best 2:34.29 in the 1000 meter to place 17th overall. Rounding out the Falcon performers was senior Eric Ouellette, who turned in a time of 15:19.87 in the 5000m with an 18th place finish for the Fitchburg State.

The Fitchburg State men's and women's indoor track & field teams will be in action again next weekend as they travel to the Armory in New York City for the 2015 ECAC Championships for a meet starting on Friday at 10 a.m.
