
Fitchburg State Takes On Reggie Poyau Invite
Woolley earns top honor in 55m hurdles with DIII NE qualifying time of 8.74 seconds
WALTHAM, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's indoor track and field team placed third at the 2015-16 Reggie Poyau Invitational on Saturday afternoon, hosted by Brandeis University at the Gosman Sports Center.
Sophomore Annie Woolley paced the women, placing first overall in the 55 meter hurdles with a DIII New England qualifying time of 8.74 seconds, while Woolley added a fourth place effort in the 200m with a MASCAC qualifying time of 27.58 seconds.
In the mile, sophomore Shawna Ryan registered a post-season qualifying time of 11:02.34 with a tenth place effort, while classmate Nicole Gaffney posted a MASCAC qualifying time of 11:02.34 in the 3000 meter with a fifth place finish to set a new personal record in the process.
Junior Morgan Steele earned top honors in the shotput with a post-season qualifying throw of 10.74 meters as well as placing first overall in the weight throw with a toss of 12.96m, while the 4x200 meter relay team of Steele, junior Sadie Zbikowski, sophomore Amanda Remie and newcomer Molly Atkinson turned in a second place effort of 2:02.75.
Zbikowski placed first overall in the pole vault with a mark of 2.74 meters, while Atkinson rounded out the top Falcon efforts on the afternoon, turning in a seventh place finish in the long jump with a MASCAC qualifying mark of 4.16m.
The Fitchburg State women's indoor track and field team will be back in action next Sunday at they compete in the 2015-16 GBTC Invitational Indoor Track Meet, hosted by Harvard University at the Gordon Indoor Track Facility at 11 a.m.
