Falcons Shine At Reggie Poyau Invitational

Woolley takes top honors in the 55m hurdles with Open NE qualifying time of 8.56 seconds

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's indoor track team was in action this afternoon, placing sixth overall with a total of 33 points at the 2016-17 Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational, hosted by Brandeis University.

Junior Annie Woolley paced the Falcons, taking top honors in the 55m hurdles with an Open New England qualifying time of 8.56 seconds, while also qualifying for MASCAC's in the 55 meter (10th) and the 200m (4th) with times of 7.79 seconds and 27.92 seconds respectively.

Senior Sadie Zbikowski placed second overall in the pole vault with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 3.15m to tie her own PR in the process, while classmate Morgan Steele turned in a DIII NE qualifying mark of 14.26 meters with a first place finish.

In the 400 meter, junior Shawna Ryan posted a MASCAC qualifying time of 1:07.25, while fellow junior Casey Taylor notched  a post-season qualifying time of 6:00.37 with a 12th place effort in the mile.

In the 200m Woolley (27.92), freshman Micalea Goldenberg (28.89) and junior Amanda Remie (29.11) placed fourth, 12th and 16th respectively to qualify for MASCAC's, while Steele added a fourth place, MASCAC qualifying toss of 10.46 meter in the shotput.

Senior Olivia Milsted was also solid for the Falcons, placing 17th in the long jump with a post-season qualifying mark of 4.31 meters, while Goldenberg rounded out the Falcons top performances on the day with a seventh place time of 1:55.92 in the 600 meter to qualify for MASCAC's.

The Fitchburg State women's indoor track team returns to action next Sunday as they compete in the 2017 Greater Boston Track Club Invite, hosted by Harvard for a meet starting at 10 a.m.
