Fitchburg State Excels At Tufts Stampede

Woolley places second overall in the 60m hurdles with an Open NE qualifying time of 9.12 seconds to lead the way for the Falcons

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's indoor track and field team competed at the 2017 Tufts Stampeded this afternoon at the Gantcher Field House.

Junior Annie Woolley continued her stellar 2016-17 campaign, placing second overall in the 60 meter hurdles with an Open New England qualifying time of 9.12 seconds to set a new personal best in the process, while senior Sadie Zbikowski turned in a DIII NE qualifying vault of 3.05 meters in the pole vault with a fifth place finish.

Senior Olivia Milsted posted a fifth place finish in the long jump with a MASCAC qualifying mark of 4.76 meters, while classmate Morgan Steele collected a MASCAC qualifying toss of 13.52 meter in the weight throw (5th).

In the mile, junior Casey Taylor (5:52.17) and sophomore Ashley Hyde (5:53.75) placed 20th and 21st respectively to qualify for MASCAC's, while newcomer Micalea Goldenberg registered a post-season qualifying time of 1:06.51 in the 400 meter with a 26th place finish in the event.

In the 1000 meter, freshman Erin Bresnahan (24th) and juniors Jacqueline Bader (27th) and Alyssa Cardoso (28th) registered post-season qualifying times of 4:01.91, 4:12.39 and 4:14.74 respectively, while Taylor rounded out the top efforts for the Green and Gold on the afternoon, placing 22nd overall in the 800m with a MASCAC qualifying time of 2:41.41.

The Fitchburg State women's indoor track and field team will be back in action next weekend as they compete in the 2017 Dartmouth Indoor Classic, hosted by Dartmouth College on Saturday at 10 a.m.​
