Fitchburg State Competes At Plymouth State

Woolley places 1st overall in the 60m hurdles with Open NE qualifying time of 9.00

Plymouth, N.H. – The Fitchburg State women's indoor track and field team competed in the 2017-18 Plymouth State University Winter Classic this afternoon at the All Well North Active Living and Wellness Center.

Senior Annie Woolley (Malden, Mass.) continued her stellar start to the season, placing first overall in the 60 meter hurdles with an Open NE qualifying time of 9.00 seconds as well as finishing third in the 60 meter dash with a DIII New England qualifying time of 8.19 seconds.

In the 200 meter, senior Amanda Remie (Marstons Mills, Mass.), freshman Isabella Berardi (Norton, Mass.), senior Angelica Beato (Lowell, Mass.) and sophomore Micalea Goldenberg (Douglas, Mass.) all qualified for MASCAC's after placing fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth with times of 28.58, 29.08, 29.59 and 29.73 respectively.

Junior Amy Kelly (Stoughton, Mass.) finished third overall in the 5000 meter with a post-season qualifying time of 11:22.16, while Berardi (4th) and Goldenberg (5th) added MASCAC qualifying times of 1:07.49 and 1:08.31 in the 400m.

On the track, freshman Kambrynn Bowman (Norton, Mass.) (1st) and senior Shawna Ryan (Hanson, Mass.) (3rd) posted MASCAC qualifying times of 2:32.46 and 2:35.69 respectively in the 800 meter, while senior Oliva Milsted (Pocasset, Mass.) turned in a post-season qualifying time of 8.65 seconds in the 60 meter dash with a seventh place effort.

In the 1600m, Kelly (1st) and junior Casey Taylor (Chelmsford, Mass.) (4th) posted MASCAC qualifying times of 5:33.94 and 5:37.84 respectively, while newcomer Jennifer Desilvestre (Beverly, Mass.) placed fifth overall in the 1000 meter with a post-season qualifying time of 4:03.26.

Senior Sadie Zbikowski (Ashburnham, Mass.) and newcomer Megan Socha (Chicopee, Mass.) placed first and third respectively in the pole vault with MASCAC qualifying vaults of 2.90m and 2.60m, while Socha (1.35m) and freshman Franchesca Diaz (Springfield, Mass.) (1.35m) finished third and fourth respectively in the high jump to qualify for the post-season.

In the field, sophomore Brianna Young (Mansfield, Mass.) notched post-season qualifying tosses of 10.57m in the shot put (8th) and 10.69m in the weight throw (8th), while Desilvestre added a fourth place MASCAC qualifying mark of 8.79m in the triple jump.

The 4x200 meter relay team of Berardi, Woolley, Remie and Beato placed third overall with a time of 1:58.77, while freshman Makaisha Gonzalez (Lancaster, Mass.) and classmate Rene Gagne (North Attleboro, Mass.) registered MASCAC qualifying times of 10.37 seconds and 10.59 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles to round out the top Falcons efforts on the afternoon.

The Fitchburg State women's track and field team is off until after the semester break when it competes in the 2017-18 Dartmouth Indoor Classic on Saturday, January 6th with start time of 10:00 A.M.
