Fitchburg State Places Fourth At MASCAC Championships

Kelly claims MASCAC/Alliance Championship in the 5000 meter with DIII NE qualifying time of 18:45.41 

Providence, R.I. – The Fitchburg State women's indoor track and field team placed fourth overall at the 2018 MASCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships with a total of 84 points at the Providence Career and Technical High School this afternoon.

Junior Amy Kelly (Stoughton, Mass.) led the way for the Green and Gold after claiming the MASCAC/Alliance Championship in the 5000 meter with a DIII New England qualifying time of 18:45.41, while senior Annie Woolley (Malden, Mass.) took home the MASCAC/Alliance crown in the 60 meter hurdles with an Open New England qualifying time of 8.77 seconds.

In the 200 meter, Woolley posted a DIII NE qualifying time of 26.79 seconds with a second place effort, while in the mile, senior Nicole Gaffney (Paxton, Mass.) and junior Casey Taylor (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished third and seventh respectively with times of 5:41.53 and 5:46.36.

Senior Sadie Zbikowski (Ashburnham, Mass.) placed second in the pole vault with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 3.05 meters, while junior Brianna Young (Mansfield, Mass.) posted a DIII NE qualifying toss of 11.67 meters in the shot put with a second place finish.

Newcomer Kambrynn Bowman (Norton, Mass.) collected a DIII NE qualifying time of 2:26.16 in the 800 meter with a second place effort, while senior Shawna Ryan (Hanson, Mass.) notched a time of 1:48.57 in the 600 meter after placing seventh in the event.

In the field, freshman Isabella Berardi (Norton, Mass.) finished eighth in the long jump with a mark of 4.71 meters, while Young added a seventh place toss of 9.47 meter in the weight throw. Junior Jennifer Desilvestre (Beverly, Mass.) registered an eighth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 8.87 meters, while sophomore Micalea Goldenberg (Douglas, Mass.) rounded out the top Falcon efforts on the day with an eighth place time of 1:08.19 in the 400 meter

The Fitchburg State women's track and field team returns to action next weekend as it completes in the 2018 DIII New England Championships, hosted by Springfield College on Saturday, February 17 at 10:00 A.M.
