Falcons Open Season at Grinaker Invite
Northampton, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's indoor track & field team opened the 2022-23 campaign this afternoon at the Mary Grinaker Invitational hosted by Smith College.
How It Happened
Junior Makany Camara (Lowell, Mass.) led the way for the Falcons, placing first overall in the high jump (1.52m) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.84 sec.). Newcomer Trishannah Scott added a top score in the triple jump (10.04m) in an event dominated by the Falcons. Emily Russo (Gardner, Mass.) (8.26m), Erin Donelan (Fitchburg, Mass.) (8.12m), and Alanis Velez (Lowell, Mass.) (7.86m) rounded out the top five.
Rookie Skye Goba (Norton, Mass.) had a productive first meet. She finished third in the mile with a time of 5:38.30 and a fourth-place finish in the 3000m at 11:46.83.
Junior Olivia Kephart (Rutland, Mass.) had a personal record in the weight throw of 9.64m.
