Goba, Murphy, McAndrew & Burnett set DMR program record

Boston, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's indoor track & field team returned to action this weekend, competing in the 2023 DIII New England Championships at the New Balance Track.

How It Happened

The distance medley relay team of seniors Abigail Murphy (Quincy, Mass.), Lilah McAndrew (Old Lyme, Conn.), Maria Burnett (Fitchburg, Mass.) and freshman Skye Goba (Norton, Mass.) led the way for the Green and Gold, placing 14th overall with a time of 12:59.72 to set a new school record, surpassing the previous mark of 13:05.07 set on February 24, 2012.

Junior Makany Camara (Lowell, Mass.) turned in a 15th place time of 9.67 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, while adding a 15th place effort of 1.50 meters in the high jump. In the 1000 meter, Murphy (21st) and Goba (24th) turned in times of 3:09.22 and 3:11.65 with Murphy setting a new PR.

The 1600 meter relay team of Burnett, junior Joyce Arbia (Sag Harbor, N.Y.), McAndrew and freshman Alanis Velez (Lowell, Mass.) posted a 25th place time of 4:54,86 to round out the top Falcons efforts over the weekend.
