Falcons Shine At Reggie Poyau Invitational

Camara and Bailey notch DIII NE qualifiers in the 60M hurdles and shotput respectively

Waltham, MA. – The Fitchburg State University women's indoor track & field team placed eighth overall with a total of 33 points at the 2024 Reggie Poyau Invitational, hosted by Brandeis University this afternoon at the Gosman Sports Complex.

How It Happened

Senior Makany Camara (Lowell, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold, placing second overall in the 60 meter hurdles with a DIII New England qualifying time of 9.35 seconds, while adding a second place mark of 1.51 meters in the high jump as well as placing 18th overall in the 200 meter with a time of 29.56 seconds.

Junior Ephemian Bailey (Maple Grove, MN) was also solid for the Falcons, notching a DIII NE qualifying toss of 11.20 meters in the shot put with a second place effort as well as finishing 16th in the weight throw with a toss of 10.10 meters.


In the mile, sophomore Skye Goba (Norton, MA) placed third overall with a solid time of 5:29.82, while in the 400 meter, sophomore Aria DiCato (Fitchburg, MA) (17th) and senior Erin Donelan (Fitchburg, MA) (18th) posted times of 1:16.84 and 1:30.95. In the 200 meter, sophomore Alanis Velez (Lowell, MA) (32.11) and classmate Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) (36.48) placed 31st and 33rd respectively.

Freshman Alexis Toste (Dracut, MA) finished ninth overall in the 600 meter with a time of 2:12.72, while Donelan added a 14th place time of 11.79 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles. Sophomore Julia Arena (Shrewsbury, MA) posted a ninth place time of 3:28.45 in the 800 meter, while the 4x400 meter relay team of Arena, Toste, DiCato and sophomore Shamya Boulware McKnight (Hartford, CT) posted a sixth place time of 5:19.56.

In the field, freshman Taylor Crout (Boise, ID) (9th), senior Olivia Kephart (Rutland, MA) (15th) and Israelson (20th) turned in throws of 9.56M, 8.72M and 7.75M in the shotput, while in the weight throw, Crout (9.74M) and Israelson (8.35M) finished 18th and 19th respectively.

Donelan (8.46M), DiCato (8.12M) and Toste (7.12M) finished 15th, 17th and 18th respectively in the triple jump, while Velez (18th) Donelan (22nd) and DiCato (23rd) notched marks of 4.11M, 3.59M and 3.19M in the long jump to round out the top Falcon efforts on the day.
