Falcons Excel At Wesleyan Indoor Invitational
Camara qualifies for DIII New England's in the high jump and 60 meter hurdles to pace Green and Gold
Middletown, CT – The Fitchburg State University women's indoor track & field team competed at the 2024 Wesleyan Indoor Invitational at the Bacon Field House this afternoon.

How It Happened
Senior Makany Camara (Lowell, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold, taking top honors in the high jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 1.57 meters, while adding a DIII NE qualifying time of 9.30 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles with a second place effort. Camara concluded her day, finishing 16th overall in the 200 meter with a time of 29.72 seconds.
In the 200 meter, sophomores Shamya Boulware McKnight (Hartford, CT) (28th), Alanis Velez (Lowell, MA) (34th) and Julia Arena (Shrewsbury, MA) (39th) posted times of 30.84, 32.02 and 34.24 seconds respectively, while newcomer Alexis Toste (Dracut, MA) (15th) and Boulware McKnight (19th) added times of 1:13.86 and 1:15.17 in the 400 meter.
Toste (11.22) and senior Erin Donelan (Fitchburg, MA) (11.41) finished 12th and 15th in the 60 meter hurdles, while Arena posted a 13th place time of 3:10.00 in the 800 meter.
In the field, junior Ephemian Bailey (Maple Grove, MN) finished sixth in the shotput (10.35m) and 11th in the weight throw (10.83m), while sophomore Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) posted a 25th place throw of 7.80 meters in the shot put and a 26th place toss of 5.55 meters in the weight throw.
In the long jump, Velez (4.19m) and Boulware McKnight (3.99m) finished 11th and 13th, while Donelan finished eighth overall in the triple jump with a mark of 8.38 meters to round out the top Falcon efforts on the day.
