Falcons Shine At All-New England Championships
Desrochers notches pair of top four finishes to pace men; Chace leads women in the javelin
EASTON, Mass. (May 11, 2013) – The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s outdoor track & field teams competed in the 2013 All New England Championships hosted by Stonehill College over the weekend.
On the men’s side, senior Zach Desrochers (Dracut, Mass./Greater Lowell) witnessed his best series of throws ever with six tosses over 54 meters in the hammer throw, placing fourth overall with his first throw of 56.29 meters before posting a third place showing in the discus with a throw of 47.37 meters
On the track, senior Will Lary (Winchendon, Mass./Murdock) was strong in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:03.05, while classmate Michael Grasela (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford) was also strong in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:06.46.
For the ladies, junior Brittany Chance (Foster, R.I./Ponaganset) put forth a solid 18th place finish in the javelin with a throw of 34.15 meters to round out the top Falcon performances over the weekend.
Members of the Fitchburg State men’s and women’s outdoor track & field teams will be in action again next weekend as they compete at the 2013 ECAC Championships hosted by Springfield College starting on Thursday at 1 p.m.
