Desrochers Tabbed MASCAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

Dracut, Mass. Native collects fourth accolade of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. (April 22, 2013) – Senior Zach Desrochers (Dracut, Mass./Greater Lowell) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office Sunday evening.

Desrochers collects his second consecutive weekly honor after the men’s and women’s outdoor track & field teams hosted the 2013 Eric Loeschner Memorial Meet on Saturday afternoon. The senior thrower paved the way for the men’s team, qualifying for four post-season honors (MASCAC/DIII NE/All-NE/ECAC) in both the discus and hammer throw.

The third year Falcon took top honors in the discus with a post-season throw of 46.70 meters before continuing his strong efforts in the hammer throw, placing fifth overall with a post-season mark of 49.27 meters.

The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s outdoor track & field teams return to action on Saturday as they compete at the 2013 MASCAC/Alliance Meet hosted by Bridgewater State University, starting at 11 a.m.
