Fitchburg State Hosts Annual Eric Loeschner Memorial Meet

Felton paces women with ECAC qualifying mark in the javelin: Sattiewhite qualifies for ECAC's in the high jump to lead men

FITCHBURG, MASS. – The Fitchburg State men's and women's outdoor track & field teams were in action this afternoon as they hosted the 2015 Eric Loeschner Memorial Meet this afternoon at Elliot Field.

On the women's side, senior Rebecca McClure earned top honors in the pole vault with DIII NE qualifying vault of 3.20 meters, while sophomore Emilee Felton placed second overall in the javelin with an ECAC qualifying throw of 36.40 meters.

Freshman Annie Woolley was also strong, placing third overall in the 100 meter hurdles with a DIII New England qualifying time of 15.99, senior Jenae Harrison qualified for ECAC's in the 800 meter with time of 2:19.82 with a second place finish. Newcomer Jenna Phelps put forth a solid effort in the 400 meter hurdles with a DIII NE qualifying time of 1:08.24 to finish fourth overall.

On the track, senior Karollynn Wickless-Adams tuned in MASCAC qualifying time of 1:07.73 with a  tenth place finish in the 400 meter, while senior Arthina Robert (6th) and senior Natasha McInnis (8th) both notched MASCAC qualifying times of 13.05 and 13.40 seconds in the 100 meter dash.

Freshman Nicole Gaffney placed fourth overall in the 5000 meter with a MASCAC qualifying time of 21:03.05, while junior Jessica Mangan followed in fifth with a time of 21:03.74 to qualify for MASCAC's as well in the event.

In the field, senior sophomore Morgan Steele and Sarah Elliott were solid for the Falcons, placing sixth and eighth in the shot put with MASCAC qualifying throws of 10.61m and 10.30m, while Elliott also qualified for MASCAC's in the discus with a toss of 29.17m.

In the high jump, senior Ebony Schuerman (4.44m), McInnis (4.08m), sophomore Melody Francis (4.39m), classmate Elizabeth Norman (4.07m) and junior Angelica Picucci (4.05m) all posted MASCAC qualifying marks, while Steele placed fourth in the hammer throw to qualify for MASCAC's.

For the men, graduate student Patrick Conaty led the way, earning second place in the pole vault with a DIII New England mark of 4.35 meters, while newcomer Ben Sattiewhite registered an ECAC qualifying mark of 1.95m with a fourth place effort in the high jump.

Freshman Chavinskee Milcent collected DIII NE qualifying marks of 1.90m in the high jump (5th) and 6.43m in the long jump (6th), while junior Ethan Gorecki took second place in the javelin with a DIII NE qualifying throw of 51.37 meters.

Junior Timothy Allen placed third overall with a MASCAC qualifying time of 37:56.98 in the 10,000 meter, while sophomore Nicholas Levenson notched a post-season time of 17.56 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles.

Freshman Jake Hastings registered a MASCAC qualifying time of 4:09.60 to place sixth overall in the 1500 meter, while classmate Sean Beverly and senior Michael Martin turned a times of 4:31.12 and 4:38.38 to qualify for MASAC's in the event as well. The men's 4x800 meter relay team of junior Richard Ethier, IV, freshman Liam Eble, classmate Daniel Fournier and sophomore Chauncey Beatty were also solid, placing second overall with a time 8:33.09.

On the track, Beatty placed sixth in the 400 meter with a time of 51.43 seconds to qualify for MASCAC's, while in the 400 meter hurdles, Levenson placed third overall with a MASCAC qualifying time of 58.52, while senior Ethan Gorecki (6th) and junior Brandon Brideau (11th) also notched post-season times of 59.55 and 1:03.08.

Ethier (2nd), Hastings (5th), Eble (7th) and sophomore Matthew Cuomo (8th) posted MASCAC qualifying times of 2:01.10, 2:03.00, 2:03.95 and 2:04.25 respectively in 800m, while the men's 4x400 meter relay team of Ethier, Quinlan, Beatty and Gorecki took top honors with a DIII New England qualifying time of 3:29.45.

In the field, freshman Joseph Bernardini collected four MASCAC qualifying tosses of in the discus (31.58m), the hammer throw (33.89m), the javelin (42.30m) and the shot put (11.61m), while junior Daniel Rymer notched a post-season qualifying toss of 34.53m in the hammer throw to round out the top effort for the men's squad.

The Fitchburg State men's and women's outdoor track & field teams return to action on Saturday as they compete at the 2015 MASCAC/Alliance Championship Meet hosted by Fitchburg State University, starting at 10 a.m.
