Outdoor Track Sweep MASCAC Weekly Awards As Well As Earning ECAC DIII NE Honors

Woolley tabbed track athlete of the week; Atkinson named both rookie and field athlete of week

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Sophomore Annie Woolley was selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, while freshman Molly Atkinson earned MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track Field and Rookie of the Week honors as well as being tabbed the Corvias Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) DIII NE Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference offices earlier this week.

Woolley collects her first weekly honor of the season after taking top honors in the 100 meter hurdles with an ECAC qualifying time of 15.29 seconds, while adding a fourth place finish in the 100 meter dash with a MASCAC qualifying time of 13.48 seconds as the Falcons hosted the 2016 Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite on Saturday. With her time in the 100m hurdles, Woolley currently ranks 31st in the nation in that event.

Atkinson also earns her first two weekly accolades on the 2016 season after placing second overall in the javelin with an Open New England qualifying toss of 38.97m to set a new school record in the process, while posting a MASCAC qualifying throw of 28.08m in the discus with a seventh place effort as Fitchburg State hosted the 2016 Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite at Elliot Field on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State women's track & field team returns to action on Saturday as it competes in the 2016 Smith College Invitational, starting at 11 a.m.
