Fitchburg State Competes At DIII New England Championships

Woolley and Steele earn All-New England Honors for Falcons

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.  – The Fitchburg State women's outdoor track & field team placed 23rd overall with a total of eight points at the 2017 DIII New England Championships this weekend, hosted by Williams College.

Junior Annie Woolley led the way for the Falcons, finishing third overall in the 100 meter hurdles with an Open New England qualifying time of 14.57 seconds to earn All-New England honors, while the 4x100 meter relay team of Woolley, junior Amanda Remie, senior Melody Francis and freshman Nisa Holley turned in a solid time of 51.96 seconds with a 19th place finish.

Senior Morgan Steele was also strong for the Green and Gold, earning All-NE accolades with a seventh place toss of 45.87 meters in the hammer throw, while also adding a 19th place effort in the shot put with throw of 10.89 meters to round out the top performances over the weekend for Fitchburg State.

The Fitchburg State women's outdoor track team returns to action next weekend as select members complete in the 2017 Open New England Championships, hosted by Williams College, starting on Friday at 10 a.m.
