Fitchburg State Soars At Open New England Championships
Steele breaks own record in the hammer throw with 16th place toss of 48.31 meters
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's outdoor track & field team competed at the 2017 Open New England Championships this weekend, hosted by Williams College.
Senior thrower Morgan Steele paced the Green and Gold, placing 16th overall in the hammer throw with a toss of 48.31 meters, while setting a new Fitchburg State record in the process, surpassing her own school record of 47.01 meters, set at the 2017 MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships in late April.
The Fitchburg State women's outdoor track team returns to action next weekend as select members complete in the 2017 ECAC DIII Championships, hosted by Westfield State University, starting on Thursday at 10 a.m.
