Falcons Place Fourth At MASCAC Championships

Young, Murphy and Brouillet earn three All-MASCAC accolades each

Westfield, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's outdoor track & field team placed fourth overall with a total of 70 points at the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Outdoor Championships this afternoon, hosted by Westfield State University. Bridgewater State University went on to claim the 2021 title with a total of 198.5 points.

How It Happened

Senior Brianna Young (Mansfield, Mass.) led the way for the Green and Gold, placing second in the shot put (10.19m), third in the hammer throw (34.54m) and sixth in the discus (22.28m) to earn All-MASCAC honors in all three events, while freshman Darcy Lally (Portland, Maine) collected All-MASCAC accolades in the pole vault (2nd) (2.30m) and the 100 meter hurdles (3rd) with a new PR time of 18.64 seconds.

Sophomore Courtney Brouillet (Fitchburg, Mass.) saw a break out meet as she registered three All-MASCAC awards, placing third in the 3000 meter steeplechase (16:52.03) (PR), fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:36.63) and led the 4x400 meter relay to fourth place effort (5:02.19), while classmate Abigail Murphy (Quincy, Mass.) was also a 3x All-MASCAC recipient in the 800 meter (4th) (2:29.24), 1500 meter (3rd) (5:13.00) and the 4x400 meter relay.

Newcomer Kailey Norton (Worcester, Mass.) and junior Lilah McAndrew (Old Lyme, Conn.) both concluded the meet with a pair of All-MASCAC honor with Norton placing fourth in the Discus (29.19m) (PR) and fifth in the shot put (8.84m), while McAndrew was fourth in the 1500 (5:15.37)  (PR) and a member of the 4x400 meter relay.

  • Senior Olivia Mullins (Plaistow, NH) 2nd place in the 10,000 meter (50:06.37) (All-MASCAC)
  • Freshman Audrey Cora (Milford, Mass.) 6th place in the shot put (7.03m) (All-MASCAC)
  • Sophomore Nicolette Kennedy (Groveland, Mass.) 4th place in the 4x400 meter relay (5:02.19) (All-MASCAC), while adding a new PR time of 2:53.56 in the 800m
  • Junior Selina Gibbons (Littleton, Mass.) set a pair of PR's in the 100 meter (13.52) (10th) and the 200 meter (27.78) (8th)
  • Newcomer Olivia Kephart (Rutland, Mass.) registered a new PR in the weight throw (7th)  with a toss of 19.23 meters
  • Norton added a personal best mark of 19.53 meters in the Javelin
