Falcons Excel At Monks Invitational

Camara, McInnis and Bailey notch top three finishes for Green and Gold

Standish, Maine. – The Fitchburg State University women's outdoor track & field team returned to action this afternoon, placing sixth overall with a total of 46.50 points at the 2022 Monks Invitational, hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

How It Happened

Sophomore Makany Camara (Lowell, Mass.) paced the Green and Gold, taking top honors in the high jump with a MASCAC qualifying mark of 1.52 meters, while adding a fourth place effort in the 100 meter hurdles with a solid post-season qualifying time of 16.96 seconds.

Graduate student Natasha McInnis (Leominster, Mass.) was also solid for the Falcons, placing first overall in the 100 meter (13.00) and third in the 200 meter (27.23) to qualify for MASCAC's in both events, while newcomer Ephemian Bailey (Maple Grove, Minn.) turned in a pair of top three efforts in the shot put (2nd) (10.47) and the discus (3rd) (33.34) to qualify for the post-season in both events.

Junior Abigail Murphy (Quincy, Mass.) notched a MASCAC qualifying time of 5:15.58 in the 1500 meter after finishing ninth overall, while classmate Erin Donelan (Fitchburg, Mass.) put forth a post-season qualifying time of 19.40 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing in 14th.

In the field, McInnis finished tenth overall in the long jump with a post-season qualifying mark of 4.60 meters, while sophomore Olivia Kephart (Rutland, Mass.) posted a MASCAC qualifying throw of 8.57 meter in the shot put (12th).

McInnis rounded out the top Falcon efforts on the afternoon, placing tenth overall in the long jump with a MASCAC qualifying mark of 4.60 meters.
