Women's Volleyball Stumbles to AMCATS

FITCHBURG, MA: Fitchburg State women's volleyball fell in five sets against Anna Maria this evening in non-conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Score: Anna Maria 3, Fitchburg 2. Sets (25-19, 25-19, 19-25, 22-25, 11-15)

- Records: Anna Maria (2-7), Fitchburg (4-4)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The AMCATS were led by Shae Savoie, who topped all athletes with 16 kills. She also had a team-high 17 digs. Jana Hunt and Serena Dennis fell just behind her with 16 digs each. Julia Tarantino was the main facilitator in this one, dishing out 15 assists. Sarah Burt was also in the setter position tonight. She delved out 12 assists along with 13 digs.

- The Falcons offense was led by Samantha Mirra (Burlington, MA), who finished with 12 kills. Sariah Dyer (Raynham, MA) also racked up double-digit kills with ten. Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, MA) and Jessica Greco (Southington, CT) each finished 20 or more digs. Sardella had the game-high with 23 digs, while Greco had 20. Emily Gelinas (Westfield, MA) handed out 30 assists.

-  Digs: Anna Maria 82, Fitchburg 74

- Fitchburg State women's volleyball will be back on the court this weekend against Eastern Conn. St. and Southern Maine. EConn will take place at 2 PM, while Southern Maine will be at 4 PM.
