Women's Volleyball Drops MASCAC Matchup with Bridgewater

FITCHBURG, MA: Fitchburg State women's volleyball fell to Bridgewater State in conference action this evening.

THE BASICS:

- Score: Bridgewater 3, Fitchburg 0 (17-25, 23-25, 11-25)

- Records: Bridgewater (3-9, 1-3 MASCAC), Fitchburg (7-10, 1-3 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Bridgewater swept the Falcons with exceptional serving this evening, racking up 22 aces. Lilly Misay topped the match with 11 aces of her own to go along with nine digs from her libero position. Lily Welch finished with a match-high eight kills on 12 attempts and three errors for a .417 kill percentage. Bethany Votta had the set working as she delved out 25.

- Fitchburg's offense was led by Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, MA), who had six kills. Emily Gelinas (Westfield, MA) dished out 11 assists in tonight's match, along with four digs and two kills. Jessica Greco (Southington, CT) paced the defense with nine digs.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Assists: Bridgewater 26, Fitchburg 14

-  Digs: Bridgewater 40, Fitchburg 30

- Fitchburg State women's volleyball will be back Saturday when they travel to Framingham State for a tri-match with the University of New England (UNE). Framingham is slated to begin at 1 PM, with UNE starting at 3 PM.
