Women's Volleyball Falls to Westfield on Senior Day

FITCHBURG, MA: Fitchburg State women's volleyball fell to Westfield State in conference action this afternoon by a score of 3-0.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 11/3/23

- Score: Westfield 3, Fitchburg 0 (17-25, 26-28, 23-25)

- Records: Westfield 10-17, 7-0 MASCAC), Fitchburg (8-16, 2-5 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Owls were paced by a trio in this one. Lauren Carnes topped the three with 12 kills. Julia Bartiet had 11 kills with an impressive .529 kill percentage. Bridgette McAndrews rounded out the three with 10 kills. Morgan Dority topped the team in assists with 21, while Julia Dangel-Garcia finished just behind her with 18. Michaela O'Connor held down the back row with 18 digs.

- The Falcons stayed with the Owls throughout every set, making the number one team in the MASCAC work for the three-set victory. Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, MA) topped the Fitchburg team in both kills and digs. She had the match-high with 14 kills, to go along with her 17 digs. Emily Gelinas (Westfield, MA) also finished with a match-high in assists with 30.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Westfield 47, Fitchburg 33

-  Assists: Westfield 45, Fitchburg 33

-  Digs: Westfield 67, Fitchburg 55
