Fitchburg State Participates In Community Service Day

Falcons team up with community at Saima Park

FITCHBURG, Mass. (September 13, 2014) – Several members of the Fitchburg State Women's Cross Country team participated in a Community Service Day event held at Saima Park in Fitchburg this afternoon.

Saima Park's cross country trails were in need of cleaning, while the soccer and field hockey fields were relined and fitted with new nets and cages. The park serves as the new home field for the Sizer School, formerly called North Central Charter Essential School, located at the rotary intersection of Ridge Road and Ashby State Road.

Members of the 2014 Fitchburg State women's cross country team at the event included Dorothee  Petzl, Sadie Zibikowski, Jessica Mangan, Nicole Gaffney, Ebony Schuerman, Karollynn Wickless-Adams, Libby Ward as well as head women's cross country coach Jamie Aubuchon, while Ethan Aubuchon and Josh Kaddy were also among the 30 volunteers at the Community Service Day event.

The Fitchburg State men's and women's cross country team return to action next Saturday as they compete in the 2014 Corsairs Invitational hosted by UMass Dartmouth, starting at 10:30 a.m.
