Fitchburg State Places Fifth At Keene State Invite

Hyde and Gaffney pace Falcons at 2016 Keene State Invitational

KEENE, N.H. – The Fitchburg State women's cross country team placed fifth overall with a total of 128 points at the 2016 Keene State College Cross Country Invitational this morning.

Sophomore Ashley Hyde continued her strong start to the season for the Falcons, placing 22nd overall with a time of 21:22.4, while junior Nicole Gaffney added a time of 21:51.5 with a 23rd place finish over the 5K layout.

Junior Casey Taylor was next for the Green and Gold, turning in a time of 22:12.4 with a 25th place effort, while senior Shawna Ryan entered the chute at 22:35.8. Junior Bridget Diggins followed, posting a time 23:00.1, while freshman Erin Bresnahan (24:19.8) and junior Alyssa Cardoso (26:35.3) closed out the top Falcon performances on the afternoon.

The Fitchburg State women's cross country team returns to action next Saturday as select member complete in 2016 All New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston at 10:30 a.m., while the rest of the team races at the 2016 James Early Invitational, hosted by Westfield State at 10:30 a.m.
