Falcons Race At Worcester City Meet

Kelly places 31st overall with time of 29:12.2  

Paxton, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's cross country returned to action this weekend as members of the team competed at the 2018 Worcester City Meet this morning at Moore State Park.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State was paced by senior Amy Kelly (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton), who placed 31st overall with a time 29:13.2 over the 6k course, while freshman Savannah Wojcik (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) entered the chute with a time of 30:39.5

Newcomer Nyasia Torres (Fitchburg, Mass./Fitchburg) followed with a time of 32:28.7, while senior Jennifer Desilvestre (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) rounded out the top finishers for the Green and Gold, turning in a time of 33:35.0

Inside the Numbers

Fitchburg State finished fifth overall at last year's Worcester City Meet after amassing 121 points. Worcester State claimed first place by amassing a total of 41 points

WPI junior Sydney Packard (Georgetown, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) took top honors at the 2018 Worcester City Meet with a time of 23:40.1

The Engineers of WPI won the meet with a total of 25 points.

The Falcons will compete in the 2018 Corsair Cross Country Invite on the campus of UMass Dartmouth next Saturday for a meet starting at 12:00 PM.
