Williamstown, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's cross country competed at the 2019 Williams College Purple Valley Invitation this morning, placing 6th overall with a total of 115 points at Mount Greylock High School.

Score: 6th Place (6 teams) | 115 Points

How It Happened

The Falcons were paced by freshman Abigail Murphy (Quincy, Mass.) who completed the 5k course in 22:39.4 good for 12th place overall. Classmate Lilah McAndrew (Old Lyme, Conn.) and junior Olivia Mullins (Plaistow, NH) both finished in the top 20. McAndrew crossed at 22:43.4 and Mullins 23:31.0.

The Green and Gold rounded out their top six with freshman Erin Maida (Danbury, Conn.) at 25:54.2, senior Vera Ziegler at 25:58.8 and junior Melony Ellis (West Yarmouth, Mass.) crossed at 35:03.8.

Inside the Numbers

Williams claimed first place by amassing a total of 16 points

Freshman Alexandra Bettez of Williams crossed the finish line first with a time of 20:13.9

The Falcons will compete in the 2019 Keene State College Cross Country Invitational next Saturday in a meet starting at 11:00 AM.
