Falcons Have Strong Showing at Maple Syrup Challenge
Randolph, Vermont. – The Fitchburg State University women's cross country team finished 3rd with 81 points at the Vermont Tech Maple Syrup Challenge on Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened
The Falcons had a pair of top 10 finishers, junior Lilah McAndrew (Old Lyme, Conn.) and classmate Abigale Murphy (Quincy, Mass.) finished 9th (21:23.08) and 10th (21:51.32) respectively. First year Joy Wambui (Danvers, Mass.) was next at 16th with a time of 23:27.27, while senior Meryem Majaoudou (Ayer, Mass.) had a strong effort at 22nd (27:03.32).
Inside the Numbers
- Juniors Erin Maida (Danbury, Conn) (27:51.29), Kayla Scarela (Fitchburg, Mass.) (30:01.67) and Courtney Brouillet (Fitchburg, Mass.) (32:06.28) rounded out the top 30.
- Middlebury won the 2021 Maple Syrup Challenge with a total of 15 points.
